The hardening soil model: Formulation and verification

چکیده

A new constitutive model is introduced which is formulated in the framework of classical theory of plasticity. In the model the total strains are calculated using a stress-dependent stiffness, different for both virgin loading and un-/reloading. The plastic strains are calculated by introducing a multi-surface yield criterion. Hardening is assumed to be isotropic depending on both the plastic shear and volumetric strain. For the frictional hardening a non-associated and for the cap hardening an associated flow rule is assumed. First the model is written in its rate form. Therefor the essential equations for the stiffness modules, the yield-, failureand plastic potential surfaces are given. In the next part some remarks are given on the models incremental implementation in the PLAXIS computer code. The parameters used in the model are summarized, their physical interpretation and determination are explained in detail. The model is calibrated for a loose sand for which a lot of experimental data is available. With the so calibrated model undrained shear tests and pressuremeter tests are back-calculated. The paper ends with some remarks on the limitations of the model and an outlook on further developments.

A Lode Angle Dependent Formulation of the Hardening Soil Model

This paper presents a new formulation of a well known double hardening model often referred to as the Hardening Soil model. As an alternative to the existing Hardening Soil model’s Mohr-Coulomb failure surface, the new formulation allows for the incorporation of smooth failure surfaces, such as the failure surface proposed by Matsuoka & Nakai or that proposed by Lade & Duncan. Although the inco...

A Constitutive Model for Sands

In this paper, an elastoplastic constitutive model is presented for predicting sandy soil behavior under monotonic and cyclic loadings. The model is based on the CJS3 model that takes into account deviatoric and isotropic mechanisms of plasticity. The flow rule in deviatoric mechanism is non-associated and a kinematic hardening law controls the evolution of the yield surface. In the present s...

بررسی نشست بدنه سد خاکی در دوران ساخت و مقایسه آن با نتایج تحلیلی با استفاده از نرم‌افزار PLAXIS (مطالعه موردی سد کبودوال)

Modeling of Kaboodval Dam using Plaxis software has been used for the Mouher-Columb behavior model. The effect of two continuities of embankment and watering operations on the meeting was considered. The body structure of the dam was increased from the side of the faces to the middle sections, and the maximum seating was recorded at 25-25 and at about 2200 mm. By examining at different interval...
